Dr Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl participated on a panel for a Belfast Tech Week event hosted by NI Cyber and the The Fintech Corridor DigiAdvance Initiative. Belfast Tech Week, a week long series of events and activities, was held from September 28th to October 4th 2024. The panel was chaired by Karen Bradbury of Invest Northern Ireland, and Mairéad. Co-panellists included Tatja Karkkainen, a lecturer in Finance and Finance Technology at the University of Ulster, Simon Whittaker CEO of Vertical Structure, a cyber security and information assurance firm and Tim Silverslides of Co-Founder of Pytilia a software consultancy. The industry and academic experts were of one mind with respect to the continued need for upskilling and reskilling into this sector, as Dr Nic Giolla Mhichíl pointed out:
“Lifelong learning, is a must for this sector and not a nice to have”
Thank you to Hilary Moran, of the FinTech Corridor for organising this event in collaboration with Joanne English of NI Cyber.
